One Ring: Darkening of Mirkwood

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

A Nice Day for an Adventure

The group met in Bree and found a common purpose. Travelling East with the possible intention of visiting Rivendale.

The group finds a camp which had an innate feeling of evil. An arrow was found in the tree, a goblin arrow.

Hakon, spots a upended cart and promptly investigates the arrows. Falco spots the contents of the cart, good quality honey, likely from the East. Elthas finds a some tracks leading to the northeast. Hakon figures there was an ambush.

Hakon and Elthas explore the area while Falco preps the fire for cooking.

The two explorers travel a ways and find a troll crouched over looking at something. Upon further exploration there are three trolls altogether. While moving closer to the trolls a small door which is slightly ajar with a small wisp of smoke is spotted.

It appears that the trolls have been turned to stone. Their attention then turns to the door. They sneak in and find a campfire in the back with someone moving around. Meat is being hacked by a hunchbacked figure.

The group returns to the camp and enjoys a sweet stew with potatoes and carrots and then head off to explore the goblin cave.

A plan is made to draw out the goblins and rescue the man trapped in the cave. The goblins came running out and they were quickly dispatched. Falco ran into the goblin home to free the trapped man.

Good Food, Good Adventure

The group rescues Argyle and Falco promptly starts cooking for him and making him comfortable. Elthas sits down and has a conversation with the man to hear his story.

Argyle tells a story about meeting a hobbit that is travelling to the “Easterly Inn.” The hobbits name was “Dinodis.” The group learns that the Inn may be in trouble.

Falco convinces Argyle to join the group to journey with the group to the “Easterly Inn”

Hakon finds some disturbed dirt and the group digs up some treasure and a key. The key has the symbol of Gondor and a few symbols in what appear to be directions.

the night is spent at the goblin hole and in the morning the group travels to the Easterly Inn. Travel is rough with most party members becoming weary.

During one night during dinner, the preparations were disrupted by movement in the distance. ELT’s heads off to investigate. He speaks to the stones and learns that we are in a place of great sorrow. A trail is found of someone being dragged to the pond. Elthas dives into the pond and finds a body, the body grabs Elthas and grapples with him. he shakes loose from the grip. As he emerges from the water he sees Falco battling with a Shadow. The two fight the shadow, Hakon, and Argyle arrive only to see Falco and Elthas defeat the Shadow. The group decides this is not a good place to rest.
